Did you know that more kids die from leukemia than any other cancer? The kids in your school can help change that. By participating in The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s School & Youth Programs, Pennies for Patients or Pasta for Pennies, students will have the opportunity to make a difference and work towards a goal that helps others.

Last year over 21,000 schools registered to participate in the program. In the Texas Gulf Coast alone, more than 283 schools participated raising over $379,000 to fund blood cancer research and patient services.

  • How it works: Pennies for Patients runs for three weeks between the months of October-November 2007 or January-March 2008. For the three weeks of your choosing, students collect and donate spare change.
  • We’ll make this easy: The Society provides all the program materials needed including posters, letters to every child’s parent/guardian, age-appropriate videos, K-8 lesson plans and additional school incentives such as gift cards.
  • Every school is a winner: The top-fundraising classroom at schools that raise a minimum of $350 will win a prize or pizza party! Other great PRIZES will also be awarded to schools that meet fundraising goals.

School & Youth programs are a great way to involve students in a program that builds good values, helping them understand that they can make a real difference in the lives of others. Register online now at School and Youth or contact Hope Morrison at 713 .680.8088, ext. 107.
